This fall, Fox is combining comedy and horror with deadly results
Comedy and horror are two genres that have mostly just eyed each other from across the playground, choosing to mostly play alone (two notable recent exceptions include Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead). It’s definitely not something that we’ve seen much of on TV.
That’s why Fox’s upcoming horror-comedy Scream Queens has people in this office screaming with excitement, almost as much as the girls screaming in he actual trailer.
The action takes place in the fictional Kappa sorority in Wallace University. A group of bratty sorority girls are forced to lower their snobbish exclusivity and start accepting all applying pledges. At the same time, a 20 year old murder mystery is re-kindled when a masked Devil stalks campus, threatening the lives of all the Kappas. Since the show is also a comedy, it seems like they rank both of these problems on about the same level.
The show has an impressive pedigree
The main wicked mind behind Glee and American Horror Story is actually the same guy: Ryan Murphy. He not only created those two amazingly popular shows, but also Nip/Tuck. Popular, and The New Normal.
That said, American Horror Story is one of the scariest television shows in recent memory (if not of all time), and he certainly has the cliques and girl camaraderie down with both Glee and Popular.
A star-studded girl cast on par with Tay-tay’s Bad Blood video
Besides Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande the cast is a who’s who of girls coming up in Hollywood (and obviously some guy eye candy in the form of Nick Jonas). Jamie Lee Curtis (who plays the dean) is also joined by Abigail Breslin, Nasim Pedrad, Lea Michelle (of Murhpy’s other show Glee), and many more badass ladies.
Emma and her crew of bad beezys protect themselves from a murderer, all while looking good and managing conflicts in their sorority. Will they be able to make it out in one piece, literally?
