Mario Kart racing at Universal?! It could happen!
Nintendo and Universal Studios announced today that they will be joining forces to bring “the world of Nintendo to life” at Universal Studios. They’re going to be putting together rides and entire “experiences” solely based on the characters, games and entire worlds that has made Nintendo so beloved.
Does that mean Mario Kart racing? Some sort of virtual reality thing where you beat up your friends as Super Smash Brothers characters? The possibilities are endless!
Hopefully it will be more immersive than Mario Tennis
This is the first deal of the sort for Nintendo, who have famously been very protective over their worlds and characters. In fact, it was only two months prior that they made an agreement with Japanese mobile game creator DeNA to bring games featuring their characters to mobile.
Variety speculates that moves like this are due to the flagging sales of the Wii U console, and Nintendo is looking for other ways to make money with the characters they own.
Will be avoiding barrels from Donkey Kong like in this summer’s Pixels? Only time will tell, but I’m looking forward to testing out the experiences myself!
