Alexandra Amor is a star on the rise
Alexandra Amor has an incredible voice and a tireless work ethic. She’s been honing her chops and experimenting with covers, acoustic tracks, and many other song types for years. First Slice was lucky enough to speak with her about her start, her goals, and the many other surprises she has in store for her fans #miamors!
The hustling started early
Years ago, Alexandra was in college at Florida State. She had to do a self-introduction speech for a class in her Communications major. She wanted to play to her strengths, so she decided to sing the song Carrie Underwood performed for her American Idol audition (Bonnie Raitt‘s I Can’t Make You Love Me).
It went so well that Alexandra recorded the cover for Youtube. After that video took off, she decided to focus on music full time with an independent label. Then she met her manager Krista in New York, and began to even further refine her musical abilities.
Getting personal with her music
As Alexandra has evolved as an artist, she’s been pulling from her own life to inspire her songs. She told us that it’s “real life situations” that she encounters that she uses to create her new music. It doesn’t matter whether the moments are uplifting or struggles, each of them have a role to play in inspiring Alexandra’s art. “I think authentic situations make the best music,” Alexandra told us, and we couldn’t agree more.
That’s especially true for her recently released track Coming Home ‘Allie,‘ which you can listen to right here!
Coming Home is about as personal as it can get for Alexandra. Her first original track in 4 years, it describes the relationship between Alexandra and her older sister Allie. Alexandra told us that those close to her know how much of a tumultuous relationship the two have, with Allie being in and out of Alexandra’s life and struggling with her own demons.
Alexandra was excited to tell us that Allie will be flying out to Los Angeles to play her older sister in the music video for Coming Home. Her niece is also coming to the set to play Alexandra. Alexandra was excited to share how excited she is to be able to involve her family in her career.
Social media was key in Alexandra’s self promotion
Up to very recently, Alexandra was working on her own social media campaigns. She said it was very valuable in helping her engage with her fans. She mentioned that there are girls who discovered her music in high school, who are now ending college, that have been supportive fans for years thanks to Alexandra’s social media presences.
When we asked her if she had advice for aspiring singers, she stressed how vital it is to engage with fans: “Get on every social media that makes sense to connect with fans and get your music to your world.” In college, Alexandra would stay up to 2 AM playing guitar for fans all over the world. When she first met with labels (after she had already built a fanbase herself), they told her they respected that level of hustling and self-promotion.
Huge developments coming soon!
Above is another track that Alexandra released just days ago, Burn Down, and it’s another must-listen.
She also has a number of exciting projects coming very soon. On May 1st, her website will be live at amorunplugged.com. It will feature Alexandra’s tracks and will be the place to get all the information about her soon-to-be-released EP. That EP will showcase Alexandra’s pop soul talents on six tracks, and she told us we can look forward to a late summer release.
