Hugh Jackman Retiring From Wolverine, Upcoming Sequel Will Be His Last

Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for almost two decades now.

After that amount of time, some of Wolverine’s regenerative powers must’ve rubbed off on Hugh because he’s only been getting more and more fit every time he plays the role, even though he’s obviously aged in real life.

That’s why fans were shocked and confused when Jackman shared the below photo on his Instagram:

Say it isn’t so!

People were freaking out about the “one last time” comment. Is Hugh really retiring from Wolverine?

While on The Dr. Oz Show, Hugh opened up, saying:

“This will be my last one. It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”

Whoa… he’s not talking about biting the big one, is he? Is Wolverine gonna die?!

Jackman is talking about how the third Wolverine sequel is going to be his last, but that doesn’t rule out possible cameos. It’s unsure whether or not he’ll appear in the upcoming movie X-Men: Apocalypse or even the Deadpool film.

What’s sad is that Hugh Jackman really became Wolverine. After he’s done, sadly, a reboot will almost definitely happen and it just won’t feel right without Hugh in the lead.

It truly is the end of an era.
